08 ORIGAMI CRANE

The origami crane, or tsuru, was the conceptual driver for this

workplace/ show room mixed-use project located in Atlant,

GA. Symbolizing partnership, loyalty, and longevity, these were all key driver to the client, Toyota’s, corporate identity.

The resulting space celebrates its beauty by creating partnerships, emphasized through juxtapisition of formal lines against softer organic forms attained through the interplay of light and shadow on the geometric shapes in the space.

The main challenge was the main spatial priority and its impact on programming and prototypes for offices within the structure.

While it was difficult to distill the abstract origami forms into design

drivers and features, the use of spatial configuration skills,

use of volumetric studies and site visits aided in aligning the vision with the end design execution. It was imperative to do some deep research work and to construct a detailed programmatic

procedure in all phases of the design development.
